To Netbook or To Notebook? That is no longer the question

Image
So I decided to purchase the ACER netbook and you know what....... I LOVE IT! It is the 10.1 inch it is very lightweight and fits inside of the typical purse. Being a teacher and constantly running to meetings makes it very helpful for me to be able to pop it in and pop it out...no lugging and hauling required. This was a really good investment for me and I ended up spending around 275.00 (Caught it on a deep discount 15-20% off). So if you are wondering whether or not you should purchase this for yourself or someone else I definitely say go for it!

Updates

Image
Hey!, I haven't been on here in a while but I am in fact sticking to my savings plan. I'm so proud of me.... even if no one else is. Originally I set a goal for myself to save 13K by April 2010. With extremely hard work and frugality I have managed to reach that goal November 1, 2009. Yay. So I am amending my goal to make it 20K by December 2010. Wish me luck! I guess hardwork and persistence do pay off. :)

A New Spin on Expo Markers

Image
I must be the cheapest person I know. In an attempt to save money...I tried to find a way to prolong the life of dry erase markers that I use within my classroom. I had tried everything and was going broke purchasing school supplies (my first year). After some careful research I devised a plan. I was going to spin my markers. Sounds odd...very...I know but it really does work. Hey..I haven't had to buy any dry-erase markers in over 2 years and at 5.99+ per pack they are definitely not cheap. This is how it works. Get a piece of yarn about a foot and a half long. Wrap the yarn and knot it securely around the back end of the marker (not the cap end). Once the marker is secured, start to spin the marker in a circular fashion for approximately 5 seconds (it may take longer or less depending on the age and dryness of the marker). Voila a brand spanking new marker. Don't spin it too long or it will get too drippy. The centripetal force of the spinning draws the ink back to the tip of...

Saving Money

Image
So...I need to save more money. I am going to try to do a little experiment. I am going to set a goal to save 13,000.00 in 18 months. Seems a little unrealistic huh. I thought so too. I have concluded that if I try to save or generate 1,000.00 per month in additional income I should be able to clear my goal. Dag...I was really looking to splurge for my birthday (5/14) and go to the spa.. I guess it's back to the drawing board. Turn that frown upside down update: I had a terrible day! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! So getting on here and seeing that I had a follower really made my day. Thanks! Frugal find: http://www.pennypinching-grandma.com/

....continue talking to self

Well since I have no followers...I guess I am going to continue talking to no one. I have been to other blogs and don't know the "SECRET." However...I am not one to give up without a fight.

To netbook or to notebook

Image
It's time for a new computer because this one is definitely in the "check-out" line. Once the object of all my love has now turned into the center of all my frustration. Among other things this computer has been known to spontaneously combust, run hot, beep without reason, and even disconnect in the middle of that all important email. So you could say that I am in the market for a new computer. I have been looking at netbooks instead of notebooks. The acer aspire one has really caught my eye. I'm looking for something that is cute and compact and can get the job done. With that being said I still need all the power I can get. So the debate is on. To netbook or to notebook that is the question!

I WANT A CONTAINER HOUSE !

Image
After perusing the internet I discovered an innovative "Green" construction alternative...A container home. I know I know the idea of living in something that is often seen on the highway during my morning commute to work wasn't my original idea of desirable home but these things are pretty cool! These houses are basically constructed from old shipping containers that shipyards ....*get this*... have to pay to get rid of! OOh I wan't one ...I want one ...I want one. HGTV also had a special on extreme homes in which it featured a container home as well. Check out the pics and let me know what you think. Could you see yourself living in one of these? I could .....seriously.
